  • 🎶 Shawn Mendes and the Life Is Strange TV Series: Could He Refresh an Iconic Soundtrack?

🎶 Shawn Mendes and the Life Is Strange TV Series: Could He Refresh an Iconic Soundtrack?

Hey folks! So, I recently came across some interesting news about the upcoming Life Is Strange live-action show — Shawn Mendes is apparently heading up the music. Now, I know this isn’t exactly fresh off the press. The news has been floating around for a little while, but I only just found out about it from a YouTube video by Noer called “The Life is Strange Show Has Me Concerned…” that dropped just three days ago, on May 25, 2025. (Here’s the link if you want to check it out: https://youtu.be/hmjUR4zCXc4?si=FvhYs-HTacQt3c8l).

What We Know About Shawn Mendes’ Involvement

So far, it looks like Shawn Mendes is not only executive producing but also taking charge of the show’s music through his company Permanent Content. Reports from outlets like Teen Vogue mention Mendes’ focus on emotional storytelling, which seems like a good fit given the heartfelt nature of Life Is Strange (Teen Vogue).

The Original Soundtrack — Loved, But a Bit Dated

Let’s be real: the Life Is Strange game soundtrack is amazing. Songs by Syd Matters, Angus & Julia Stone, José González, and others perfectly captured that indie, melancholic, and nostalgic mood that the game thrives on. Tracks like “Obstacles” and “Spanish Sahara” aren’t just background music — they’re emotional anchors for players. They are the game’s soul.

But here’s the thing — the game came out back in 2015, and the soundtrack, while still beautiful, does feel a bit… stuck in the past. Indie folk and atmospheric alternative music from a decade ago doesn’t always hit the same way with today’s younger audiences or those who might be new to the franchise. The style is a bit dated, and some of the production feels tied to that era.

Why Shawn Mendes Could Be a Great Fit

This is where Shawn Mendes’ involvement could be a game-changer. Shawn is known for his emotional vocal style and has shown he can pull off stripped-down, intimate performances (think of acoustic versions of his songs). His ability to blend pop with alternative elements means he could take the original Life Is Strange songs and give them a fresh, modern polish — without losing the heart and soul of the originals.

Imagine Shawn Mendes covering “Obstacles” or “Spanish Sahara” with a modern twist that appeals to today’s audience but still respects the emotional core of the game. That kind of approach could introduce these songs to a whole new generation, making them more relatable and impactful.

Plus, Shawn’s history of collaborating with other artists — Justin Bieber, Charlie Puth, and more — means there’s potential for exciting musical partnerships to bring diversity and depth to the soundtrack.

What Fans Are Worried About — And What I Think Needs to Happen

A lot of fans are understandably nervous about Shawn Mendes taking over the music because they fear the show might ditch the iconic songs for Mendes’ own pop hits or a totally different style. That would be a big misstep and could disappoint longtime fans who hold the original soundtrack close to their hearts.

My hope is that Mendes doesn’t just drop his own music in the show. Instead, he should cover every major song from the game — preserving their emotional weight but modernizing the arrangements and production. This could be the best compromise: honoring the original music and giving it new life.

Final Thoughts: A Fresh Soundtrack for a New Generation

So yeah, the news about Shawn Mendes leading the music isn’t brand new, but discovering it recently made me think a lot about how this could work if done right.

The Life Is Strange soundtrack is undeniably powerful, but it is tied to a specific era and sound that might not resonate as well with today’s viewers. If Shawn Mendes brings a fresh, modern perspective — covering the beloved songs and collaborating with other artists to enhance the sound — it could give the show’s music a new heartbeat that hits just as hard, if not harder.

I’m cautiously optimistic. What do you think? Would you want Shawn Mendes to cover the original Life Is Strange songs, or would you prefer something different? Drop your thoughts below!

  • Kanye

    Kanye

    Fucking Nazis.

What’s happening to Kanye’s so sad.

    He’s being taken advantage of

    By Neo Nazis

And has become the face of white supremacy.

They’re weaponizing his condition against him

    And taking advantage of him,

And he doesn’t even see it.

    It’s disgusting.

    It’s abhorrent.

And the saddest part is, they don’t give a shit about him.

    Not one bit.

    If they have their way,

He would be the first to go.

    He’s spreading hatred and bigotry

To millions of people with his platform.

He’s normalizing white supremancists’ ideas for them.

He has the potential to radicalize people with his hateful rhetoric and ideas.

    It’s dangerous.

    It’s horrid.

    It’s sad.

He has to be called out and held accountable for his actions,

And so do the people who Kanye associates with.

    They all do,

And anyone else who spreads hateful messaging.

They all need to be held accountable,

And Kanye needs to get help.

    He needs to get treatment.

    I doubt he’ll read this,

But on the off chance he does,

    Kanye,

I loved your music back in the day.

    Your songs were great.

I really liked your old music a lot.

But now, seeing you like this,

    A white supremacist,

    A fascist,

    I can’t rock with this.

I won’t put up with it.

    It’s disturbing to see

You’re the complete opposite from who you used to be.

    And it’s scary to see.

I have friends who are racial minorities.

    I, myself, am mixed race.

To see this country full of hate,

And to see this shit spread

    On the mainstream web,

    Is just disturbing to see,

    And it makes this country

    Feel unsafe for me.

    I worry about my friends.

I don’t want anything to happen to them.

    They’re like family.

And to see this shit spread like wildfire

    Is disheartening to me.

It’s hard to process or believe

    What’s been happening.

    It’s all crazy.

    It’s all fucked up.

    It’s all messed up.

It’s all twisted, turned upside down.

I don’t know what will happen.

    These times are uncertain.

But I do know is, you have to remain positive.

I know that’s easier said than done,

    Especially in these times.

    Make new friends,

    Meet new people,

Keep in touch with friends you do have,

    Network,

Do hobbies and things you like.

    Whatever brings you happiness,

Do it, to a reasonable degree.

    Hold onto your money,

    For things might get bad.

Stay close to your friends and fam.

Whomever makes you happy, hold onto them.

You need to have as much support as you can during these troubling times.

  • Another

    Another

How many times do we gotta go through this.

Every fucking week, it’s another fucking shooting.

    I’m sick of it.

    I’m sick of this shit.

I’m sick of the hatred and division that stems from this shit.

I’m sick of the hatred and division that causes this shit.

These shootings are treated like national fucking spectacles.

They’re in the news for one minute, and then they’re forgotten.

This shit reminds me of the Spongebob meme with that blue fish,

The one that says “How many times do we have to teach you this lesson.”

How many times do we have to go through these fucking shootings before the country takes this shit seriously?

The callousness, carelessness, apathy, and disregard for the victims involved.

And don’t get me started on the fucking conspiracy theories that surround these mass shootings,

Calling them false fucking flags and stupid shit like that

Or saying that the victims were just crisis actors.

    Like what the fuck?

Who the fuck in their right mind would fake something like that?

And if these shootings happen every single week, it seems,

Does it mean all of them are fake?

    If that’s the case,

Then that would be some real elaborate and convoluted shit.

The simpler explanation is that this country is full of hatred.

Hatred is perpetuated in media and TV.

Violence is glorified in both fiction and nonfiction.

Division is sowed throughout all aspects of our lives.

Fear is distilled by pundits and leaders.

That shit is perpetuated in the news and mainstream.

We are told to view others as the enemy.

We are told that others are the cause of our problems.

We are told to be scared of others instead of care for others.

All of this hate and negativity fuels this country and sends it onto a dark path.

As you can tell from this post, I’m angry.

I think the excessive amount of swear words in this post is a good indication of that.

    I am angry.

I am angry that people keep dying.

I am angry that division and hatred in this country seems to only get worse.

I am angry that our leaders don’t do jack shit for us, which only allows things to fester and get worse.

I am angry about all the things that can be done for the people that haven’t

And I am angry about all the things that are being done to the people that shouldn’t.

    But I am also sad.

I am sad that things just seem to get worse.

As some of you who follow this blog have noticed,

    I haven’t posted for over a year.

I needed a lot of space and time to decompress.

It just became too much trying to figure out topics to come up with on my blog,

And paying too much attention to the news just got depressing,

So I stepped away for a bit.

But this recent mass shooting motivated me to get back into writing.

It motivated me to write this.

    What is this?

    I don’t know.

    A poem?

    A vent?

    A mix of both?

    A motivational post?

    Maybe.

But how is this motivational if it’s only me venting most of the time?

Well, the motivational part comes in now.

No matter how bad things may be, don’t give up hope.

No matter how bad things get, things can get better.

Even if you don’t believe they will you have to remain positive.

Don’t let the hate and negativity get you down.

    This world is hectic.

    This world is chaotic.

But in the chaos, you can find a sense of order,

    A sense of happiness,

    A sense of peace.

    How?

    I don’t know.

    That’s honestly up to you.

    Whatever makes you happy,

    Whatever brings you joy,

    Focus on that.

And if there are people who make you happy,

    Keep those people.

    In short,

    This life is short,

So don’t focus too much on the hatred and negativity.

Try not to let it get you down.

    Do what makes you happy,

And most of all, don’t hurt others.

    Don’t put down others.

People, for the most part, want to live their lives the best they can.

We all want happiness and success and to be something.

We all have goals and dreams and ambitions.

Some people may not be good people.

Some people may want to hurt others and only look out for themselves.

But most people are not like that,

At least I don’t think so, anyways.

Most people are just trying to get by the best they can in the only ways they themselves know how to.

We all have our own lives.

We all have our own paths.

    Sometimes those paths intersect.

    Sometimes they don’t.

Whatever the case, don’t let people put you down.

    Today is September 11th.

    19 years ago today,

    Our nation was attacked.

    Four planes were hijacked.

Two crashed into the World Trade Center,

    One in the Pentagon,

And one in the middle of the Pennsylvania woods.

    It was a sad day.

    Many lives were lost.

We must never forget those lives that were lost.

That was not all that was lost, however.

From that day onwards, we’ve been in perpetual warfare in the Middle East.

From drone strikes to on-the-ground operations,

Many people, civilians, soldiers, and combatants, alike, had lost their lives.

Countless lives had been lost since 9/11 across the world, and no one bats an eye.

    It is sad to see,

But we must not forget the lives lost.

There’s a lot more that was lost since 9/11.

Tensions started to escalate all over the country.

From government to law enforcement to citizens to immigrants to even other countries,

    Everyone started to distrust everyone.

What had briefly united Americans eventually drove us further apart,

And the wounds have not fully healed.

The effects from the response to 9/11 can be felt globally to this very day.

2020 marked the beginning of a new decade.

This year, on this very day, we have a choice moving forward.

If we truly want to make the world a better place,

It has to start with us.

    Instead of fearing one another,

And viewing each other as enemies,

We need to look at each other as humans,

    As neighbors,

    As an extended family,

And we have to try to treat one another with empathy, compassion, and understanding.

That is how we can make this world a better place.

    In the city of Kenosha,

    There was a father

Who was shot by the police

In front of his own children.

    He is now bedridden,

    Paralyzed from the waist down.

People thought he wouldn’t survive his nightmarish encounter.

He was lucky to be alive. Doctors said it was a miracle.

For a couple of days after, his situation was critical.

Thankfully, now, his condition’s now stable.

    His name is Jacob Blake,

    And he deserves justice!

  • Amidst Toilet Paper Shortage, College Students Forced To Use Useless Textbooks

Amidst Toilet Paper Shortage, College Students Forced To Use Useless Textbooks

The shortage of toilet paper that has been plaguing stores nationwide has left college students with no choice but to use their useless textbooks as a substitute for toilet paper. The hundreds, or sometimes even thousands, of dollars spent on these books that don’t even get used most of the time will finally pay off.

“It’s been a life-saver,” one student said. “I now have a reason to actually use the books!”

These useless textbooks have been beneficial to many young college students. There are hundreds of pages of unread content that can now be used as extra bathroom tissue in the event that students run out of the real thing, which has been the case for many. This is good because a decently-sized textbook could last you about a month or two, or longer, if used sparingly.

Just make sure you have textbooks with thin paper, experts warn. If you use thick textbook paper, it could be a pain in the behind (literally)! One could only imagine how painful that would be.

  • The Dome

    The Dome

    Background

I initially wrote this poem in hopes to possibly have it included in a book about climate relocation. It unfortunately wasn’t accepted, so I’m sharing it on here!

Before I get to the poem itself, let me tell you about the background of what inspired and led me to write the poem in the first place, for the story is a pretty interesting one. It all started about a month ago. I wss browsing YouTube and decided to watch a video from YouTube user DarkDocs titled “Is America’s Own Chernobyl Sitting In The Middle of the Ocean.”

In the video, he describes the history of the Runit Dome and the effects it could have on the environment today.

After the video was over, I watched in the suggestions tab titled “This Concrete Dome Holds A Leaking Toxic Timebomb | Foriegn Correspondent.”

It was a video by ABC News In-depth. In the video, it talks about the history of the Runit Dome and how it is affecting the Marshallese people presently. One of the people who was mentioned in the video was Kathy Jetnil-Kijiner, a poet from the Marshall Islands. In 2014, she had read a poem for her daughter in front of the UN for the Climate Summit. I thought her poem was very inspiring, so I wanted to follow her on social media to check out more of her work. I followed her on Facebook and Twitter. On her Twitter, I saw that she had shared an advertisement for a book that two climate scientists were working on getting published. The book would be a collection of works ranging from scientific articles to poems. I decided to submit a poem. I had sent a short excerpt of it to them. They said they liked it and that I should hear back a month later if my poem will be accepted or not. Fast forward to today, and I found out my poem was not accepted. However, they said they enjoyed the excerpt that I had sent to them, and that there were a lot of submissions to choose from. I wish the both of them good luck in getting the book published, and without further ado, here is the full poem that I had wrote!

    The Poem

    Bikini Atoll;

    They were told

    The US were protectors

    Of hope

    And of freedom.

    Instead, they were relo-

    -cated from their homes

    While their atolls

    Were bombarded with radiation,

    Which had took a toll

    On them and their souls,

And the remains of it all

    Were buried underneath a dome

    That is called “The Tomb.”

How ironic it’s name is, so,

    Because the Runit Dome

    Has the potential

    To become their own tombs.

    With sea level rising,

    It’s becoming a crisis

That if the radiation finds its

    Way out, it could

    Completely poison

    The entire Earth’s oceans,

And this is because of the

    Changing Earth’s climate!

Is there any hope for us to survive this

Disastrous threat that could possibly annihilate us?

I’d say there is, but we need to realize this:

    For us to survive it,

We all need to rise up and

Take a stand for what’s right, which

    Is saving the entire planet

    From total destruction.

It may sound bleak; it may sound alarmist,

But I believe we all can grow and thrive despite this!

That is why I, a mere man who writes this,

An artist with a creative mind that is

Concerned about the state of the world and this climactic climate crisis,

Had decided to sit down and take the time to write this.

    I wrote this poem

Because I care about my home.

I care about the loved ones that I call my own.

I wrote this for my friends; my family, too!

I wrote this for their friends, and their families, too!

    I wrote this for everyone; everyone that’s in the room;

    The room that is so big and so round and so blue;

    The room that has oceans that spans millions of miles;

    The room that has a diversity of creatures both on land and in the sea;

    The room that has been around for billions of years;

    The room that houses a species that has accomplished many great feats, but has also caused a myriad of tragedies that led countless people to defeat;

The room that I’m proud to call planet Earth.

I was not asked to be born on this Earth,

But it is my place; the place of my birth.

It sorta just happened; one day I was conceived.

I grew to a fetus, then a baby, and then eventually an adult human being.

It was a slow process; just like humanity’s growth on this Earth for thousands of years.

We started out in caves, and eventually made great things.

Along the way, we also had created

Devastating weapons that can harm us and hurt us in many ways.

The same goes with climate change; it’s mostly man-made.

It is a mess that we ourselves had made.

The consequences are dire; the Earth is on fire.

But if we take a stand now, I believe we’ll survive this!

The Earth is our home; it is our dome.

It is the one thing that should come above all!

    Just as the dome

    Located in the Enewetak Atoll

    Has the potential

    To destroy us all,

    We too have the potential;

    The potential to be saviors

For not just the here and now,

    But for future generations.

That is why I had wrote this poem.

So if you see this message, please heed the urgency

To do something about this climactic climate emergency

    That could lead to insurgency

    Of disastrous natural convergency

    That could inadvertently lead

    To extreme diathermancy

    And create great divergency.

We must fight this looming threat, and we must do so with great fervency,

For it is this Earth that we love with great ardency!

We must stand up and fight, and must do so without errancy.

We must not treat this threat as a mere nonemergency.

We must respect this planet with great amounts of conservancy,

And clean up this world with great levels of detergency.

This our home; the home that we were grown.

This Earth is our dome, and this is its poem!
