  • Sexism

    Sexism

    Sexism is terrible.

    It is horrendous.

    It is disastrous.

It’s the treatment of one sex,

    Usually women,

    In a negative way

    For what’s between their legs.

    It is male privilege

    That perpetuates

    This messed up system.

  • Racism

    Racism

    Racism; it is a system

Where a person is treated different

For the color of their skin pigments.

    It is a system

    That has oppressed millions

    For many generations.

The only way to end it

    Is to fight against it.

In order to do that, we must acknowledge

    The existence

    Of white privilege.

  • Privilege

    Privilege

Privilege; it’s a thing that exists.

You can have privilege for being white, male, or cis.

There’s also privilege for being pretty, tall, or thin.

There is even privilege for being fucking rich.

Privilege is everywhere, and it is fucking shit.

It is a system where you can get judged for the color of your skin and pigments.

It is a system where men can’t show their emotions.

It is a system where rich men can pollute the environment.

It is a system where businesses can lobby the government.

It is a system where you can be demonized for being an immigrant, poor, or homeless.

It is a system that causes great division.

But do not despair; not all is hopeless!

There is a way; a way we can fix this.

We must make people aware; aware of their privilege.

We must make people realize that the problem is systemic,

And that privilege is not just simply something that one is born in.

Privilege is something that society has decided.

Privilege can give people an unfair advantage,

And can also promote hypocrisy and double standards.

Those with privilege can get praised for something,

And if marginalized groups do it,

Those with privilege have a fit.

    It’s bullshit.

    This shit needs to end.

It’s time we give a voice to those who are voiceless.

  • Pollution

    Pollution

    Pollution; it’s not an illusion.

It is quite real, and we need a solution.

If we don’t solve this, it could be the end.

It could be the end of us all, and the world that we love

Could end up in flames as humans will try to blame

The problem on others and not act like brothers

When in reality, we all have a hand to play.

It is not just one group that’s the one that pollutes.

It’s a bunch that had acted, so we need a group effort

To solve this problem and help the environment.

We must have a vision, and avoid division.

We must work united in order to fight this.

This is Earth is our home; the one we were grown.

In order to save it, we must be it’s saviors!

  • Consent

    Consent

No means no. What’s so hard to get?

That is the basis of consent.

If someone says “no,” respect their wishes.

Do not force something that they do not permit.

If you are unsure, don’t hesitate to ask.

If they’re unconscious, do not be an ass.

If they’re unaware, try anything you should not dare.

Consent is a simple concept to grasp.

We learn it as children when we’re taught how to share.

  • Climate Relocation

    Climate Relocation

Climate relocation has the potential to affect millions.

As sea levels rise and temperatures climb,

It’s only a matter of time before we will all but lose this fight.

But don’t give up hope. We can clean up this world like soap

Cleanses all wounds. We can all stop acting like fools

And treat this planet with care, for it’s the only one that’s there

Where we all live on and rely upon.

It is our home, so let’s fight until the break of dawn.

We don’t want to lose our homes, not here and not ever.

You wouldn’t want your house to be destroyed in a flood.

Think about all of us and the planet that we love.

Would you want to be forced to leave the Earth behind,

While the humans, plants, and animals that remained were all left to die?

If the answer is no, then you must know

Our time to act is now. We must not take a bow.

We shouldn’t give up or else our time will be up.

We must save this world. We must not go and furl

Up the sails for our voyage

To go and save the Earth.

    This is our journey,

And for sure as heck, we won’t quit!

We will fight until the very end

To try and save the environment.

Our time to fight is now. Let’s go and show the world how.

  • Climate Change

    Climate Change

My name is James, and this poem’s about change.

Climate change is real. I know you don’t want to hear

That humans are to blame for a climate that’s insane,

But it is the truth. We were the ones to pollute

    The planet with greenhouse gases

And lakes and rivers with deadly toxins

    Such as nuclear radiation,

    Medical, drug, and coal waste,

And all sorts of other things that can hurt the environment!

It was on us. This is our mess.

In order to stop this, we must fight this.

We must work together to make the world better.

In order to do that, now is the time to act.

If we wait, it will be too late.

There may not be a world for future generations to inhabit.

This is our one shot to get it all right.

This our world, and this is our fight!

  • One Year Later

    One Year Later

It’s been a year since you’ve been gone.

You’re gone from our lives, but not our hearts.

I’ve known you all my life, and I still can’t believe you’re gone.

I miss you a lot. I wish you were here.

I’ve got so much to tell you. I’ve got so much to say.

All I can really do is live life day by day

And take chances in life to see where things will congregate.

I don’t know where I’ll be in a couple of years from now,

But one thing I do know is that I won’t ever back down.

I won’t let fear and insecurity

    Prevent me from being me,

    Seeing all I can see,

And being the best person that I can be!

You always taught me to not give up,

    To not give in,

    And to never quit.

You taught me to pursue my goals and dreams no matter how hard they may be.

You taught me to overcome obstacles and challenges no matter how difficult they may seem.

You had so much potential and so much life left to live.

I wanted to see you be happy and succeed.

You were taken from this world too soon.

I wish you could see the person that I’ve become!

  • Words Have Power

    Words Have Power

    Trump had said

    That if you inject

    Disinfect-

    -ants into your veins,

    That it will cure COVID-19.

    That is dangerous.

    That is stupid.

    Doing that will kill you.

    It is very lethal.

    Disinfectants are meant

    To be used on surfaces.

You must use them as directed.

If you don’t, you can wind up dead.

Don’t try it at home, folks.

You’ll need to go the hospital.

    It won’t be fun.

If you inject chemicals into your lungs,

    You can develop stridor.

    You’ll be gasping for air

    As the chemicals corrode your

    Respiratory system.

    It will be very painful.

    The lining will peel off.

It is not something you’d want to experience.

  • A Day With A Smartphone

    A Day With A Smartphone

    Called a cab. Missed it.

    That’s okay.

    Just use the Uber app.

Tell it where you’re going, and pay right away.

Five minutes later, the cab’s outside.

Get inside, and you’re on your way.

Get dropped off at McDonald’s. Meet with your friends.

Go to the counter, and pick up your order.

Show the cashier your phone screen and the purchase you made on the McD’s app.

Two minutes later, your food’s in your hand.

    How very convenient.

Sit down with your friends and chat about whatever.

Show them the latest Marvel movie trailer by searching it up on the YouTube.

Just then, you get a Twitter notification about whatever it was a celebrity had said.

You then get an update from the NY Times app about a recent speech The President has made.

Later on in the day, you’re ready to go home. You use Google Maps to find out where you are

And where the nearest train or bus stops are.

Once you find them, you decide to walk there, so that way you can enjoy a breath of fresh air.

You soon get to the train station, and you use the local train app to pay.

The gate is now open, and you can go through, so you do.

On the train, you debate what you want for dinner.

Since it will be a long way until you get home, you decide to order from GrubHub.

You schedule it to be delivered in an hour and a half, since the train ride takes an hour.

Once that’s out of the way, you decide to relax for the rest of the way.

You download some tunes from Spotify and enjoy the rest of your ride.

Once you’re home, your food is outside. You take it inside, eat it, and go to sleep for the night.

You set the alarm on your phone to wake you up in the morning.
