You know, everybody has their own fashion style. Some people like dressing up in the latest trends. Some people like wearing expensive designer brands. Some people like standing out and making a statement with what they wear.
Me? I’m more of a Niko Bellic and Victor Zakhaev kind of guy.
Yep. You heard that right. I’m talking about Niko Bellic from Grand Theft Auto IV and Victor Zakhaev from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare.
And the funny thing? Both of those games are the fourth numbered entries in their respective series. What a coincidence!
But what do I mean when I say I have their style?
Well, I’m talking about the tracksuit jacket.
That’s right. The humble tracksuit jacket. Simple, comfortable, practical, and not necessarily the most fashionable thing according to whatever happens to be trending at the moment.
But you know what? I like it.
There’s something about that style that just works for me. I don’t need to wear something extravagant. I don’t need to follow every new fashion trend. I don’t need to dress like I’m trying to impress everybody in the room.
Sometimes, a simple jacket is all you need.
And honestly, I think that’s part of why I like the style so much. It’s understated. It’s casual. It’s recognizable without being particularly flashy. You can throw on a tracksuit jacket, put on some jeans or whatever else you’re comfortable wearing, and go about your day.
No fuss. No overthinking. Just get dressed and get on with life.
Now, obviously, I’m not saying I’m walking around looking exactly like either of these video game characters. I’m not trying to cosplay Niko Bellic or Victor Zakhaev every time I leave the house. I’m just saying that their general style, particularly the tracksuit-jacket look, is something I appreciate and enjoy wearing myself.
Although, I have to admit, there’s something amusing about realizing that my clothing preferences can be summed up by two video game characters who happen to look like they could have walked straight out of a gritty crime thriller.
And speaking of those two characters, here’s another little thought I had.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came out in November 2007, while Grand Theft Auto IV came out in April 2008. So, yes, Call of Duty 4 came first!
That got me wondering: Could Niko Bellic’s appearance have been inspired by Victor Zakhaev?
It’s an interesting thought, especially considering the timing and their somewhat similar looks. However, I haven’t found convincing evidence that Niko was directly inspired by Victor, so I’m treating that as speculation rather than fact. Both characters may simply draw on similar visual influences.
In fact, both characters have been associated with the actor Vladimir Maškov’s appearance in the 2001 war film Behind Enemy Lines. So the resemblance might have more to do with a shared cinematic influence than one video game character inspiring the other.
Still, I find the coincidence amusing, especially since I like the style associated with both characters.
But ultimately, this isn’t really about video game characters. It’s about finding a style that feels right for you.
For me, that’s a tracksuit jacket.
It’s simple. It’s comfortable. It’s not overly trendy or flashy. And I don’t feel like I need to change my entire wardrobe every time the fashion world decides something new is in style.
Maybe my fashion sense isn’t going to win me any awards. Maybe I’m not going to be featured in a fashion magazine anytime soon.
And that’s perfectly fine with me.
Because at the end of the day, I’d rather wear something I actually like than spend my time worrying about whether my clothes meet somebody else’s expectations.
So, yeah. If you ever see me walking around in a tracksuit jacket, just know that somewhere in the back of my mind, there’s probably a little bit of Niko Bellic and Victor Zakhaev influencing my fashion choices.
And honestly?
I’m perfectly happy with that.
What about you? Do you have a particular character, celebrity, or fictional person whose fashion style you like to emulate? Or have you found a clothing style that’s simply comfortable and works for you?
I’m curious to hear about it!
