Intro:
Welcome back to The Jaime David Podcast. I am your host, Jaime David. This is Episode Sixteen, and today we are diving into another one of my older poems, part of the ongoing journey of revisiting and reflecting on my past works.
This poem is called “Bridges and Walls” — and just by the title, you might already get a sense that it is about connection, division, and the ways we build or break barriers in our lives and in our societies.
Before I get into the poem, let me just set the stage a bit.
This piece was written during a time when I was thinking a lot about unity versus separation — not just in a political sense, but in a deeply human one. How we treat each other. Who we let in, and who we keep out. The structures we build between us, and whether they isolate or connect.
Alright. Let us go ahead and get into the poem.
Poem:
If you raise up a bridge, you build a wall.
If you tear down a wall, you create a bridge.
Why should we exclude some instead of include all?
Why should we divide ourselves and act cold like the fridge?
It is time we stop looking at each other like we’re not “the others”
And start realizing that we should start to love one another.
We’re all humans.
We are one family.
We’ve lived on this planet for many generations.
Sure, our ancestors may have caused much division;
Division that exists to this very day.
However, there is one vision; one vision I envision,
And that vision is an end to all division.
I believe it’s possible. It’s very feasible.
The first step to make it achievable is to simply care for other people.
That’s all you need to do to start bringing a positive impact to the world.
Post-Poem Discussion and Analysis:
So let us talk about that.
One of the lines that really stands out to me now is the opening paradox: “If you raise up a bridge, you build a wall. If you tear down a wall, you create a bridge.” It plays on the idea that intent and outcome are not always what we expect. Sometimes, what we think is a connection is actually a boundary. And vice versa — breaking something down can lead to new pathways.
Another piece of this poem that hits home for me is the line, “We’re all humans. We are one family.” It sounds simple, almost cliché, but in a world where identity is often weaponized and differences are emphasized, that line becomes radical. It reminds me of how easy it is to forget the basic truth that we all share this planet, and none of us is truly “the other.”
There is a tension in this poem between acknowledging historical divisions and envisioning a better future. “Sure, our ancestors may have caused much division,” I wrote. And that still feels true. But what matters is the choice we have now — to carry forward those divisions, or to be part of the healing process.
This poem might sound idealistic — “I believe it’s possible,” I said. But I still stand by that. Change does not always require grand gestures. The first step is simply to care for other people. Empathy, listening, reaching across — that is how walls become bridges.

When Literary Titan Put My Book on Their Podcast
There are certain moments in an author’s journey that stand out forever.
Publishing a book is already a surreal experience. For years, a story exists only in your imagination. It lives inside your head. Then, eventually, you take that idea and turn it into something physical. You write the words, edit the manuscript, format the pages, create the cover, and finally release it into the world.
But once a book is released, something else happens.
You have to let go.
The story that was once completely yours now belongs to readers. It belongs to reviewers. It belongs to anyone who decides to pick it up and experience it for themselves.
As an independent author, those moments can feel especially meaningful because every milestone represents something you built yourself.
Recently, I experienced another one of those moments.
My debut novel, Wonderment Within Weirdness, was featured on the Literary Titan podcast, and that podcast episode was recently uploaded to YouTube.
Seeing that happen was incredibly exciting because Literary Titan was already an important milestone in my journey as an author.
They were one of the first major literary organizations to recognize my work.
They reviewed my book.
They awarded it the Literary Titan Silver Book Award.
And now, their discussion of my novel has reached an even wider audience through YouTube.
For an indie author, moments like this are incredibly meaningful.
When I first published Wonderment Within Weirdness, I knew I was creating something unusual.
I knew it was not a typical science fiction story.
I knew it was not going to fit neatly into one category.
The book was a combination of science fiction, fantasy, satire, adventure, cosmic speculation, and my own personal ideas about life, existence, morality, and the universe.
It was a story that I wanted to be big.
I wanted it to feel like an epic journey.
I wanted it to explore massive ideas while still being driven by personal emotions.
And when Literary Titan reviewed it, they recognized many of those elements.
Their podcast discussion focused on exactly what makes Wonderment Within Weirdness the type of story it is.
The review begins with the basic premise.
The story follows Matthew Tiberius, who dies and awakens in a strange and unexpected version of heaven.
Instead of finding a simple, peaceful afterlife, Matthew discovers a bizarre world filled with politics, conflicts, strange systems, and mysteries.
The heaven of Wonderment Within Weirdness is not just a place of eternal peace.
It is a fully developed world.
It has neighborhoods.
It has organizations.
It has conflicts.
It has power struggles.
It has systems that reflect many of the issues found in human society.
That was one of the things Literary Titan highlighted.
The idea of taking something traditionally viewed as perfect and exploring what happens when that environment becomes complicated.
Because one of the biggest themes behind Wonderment Within Weirdness is questioning systems.
Questioning authority.
Questioning judgment.
Questioning whether even supposedly perfect worlds can contain flaws.
The podcast also highlighted the scale of the story.
One thing I always wanted with this series was to create something massive.
The first book is not just about one character discovering a strange afterlife.
It expands into larger conflicts involving cosmic forces, different realities, and multiverse-level stakes.
The goal was to create a feeling of exploration.
A feeling that the universe was much bigger than the characters initially understood.
That sense of wonder is something that has always attracted me to science fiction and fantasy.
The idea that there are endless possibilities beyond what we know.
The idea that existence itself can be questioned and explored.
Literary Titan also discussed the tone of the novel.
And this was something I found especially interesting.
They described the writing style as bold, loud, messy, and intentionally excessive.
And honestly, that description fits.
Wonderment Within Weirdness was never meant to be a quiet story.
It was never meant to be a small, simple adventure.
The title itself says a lot.
There is wonder.
There is weirdness.
There is imagination.
There is chaos.
The story embraces being unconventional.
And that is something I have always valued as a creator.
Not every story has to follow the same formula.
Not every book has to feel like everything else already published.
Sometimes the most interesting stories are the ones that take risks.
Of course, a bold style is not going to appeal to every reader.
Every creative choice has people who love it and people who do not connect with it.
But as an author, I would rather create something that has a strong identity than something that feels like it was designed to be completely safe.
Literary Titan also discussed the world-building.
One of the biggest ideas behind the novel was imagining heaven as an actual functioning society.
What would happen if the afterlife had infrastructure?
What would happen if it had communities?
What would happen if beings with immense power still had disagreements, conflicts, and different interpretations of existence?
Those questions helped shape the world of Wonderment Within Weirdness.
The afterlife in the story is not simply a destination.
It is a place with history.
A place with politics.
A place with mysteries.
A place where characters still have to confront questions about morality, identity, and purpose.
Another major point from the review was the exploration of themes.
At its core, Wonderment Within Weirdness is not just about action and adventure.
It is also about bigger questions.
What does it mean to be judged?
Who gets to decide what is right and wrong?
What happens when systems designed to create order become complicated?
How do individuals find meaning in a universe that is larger than themselves?
These are questions that have fascinated humanity for centuries.
Science fiction and fantasy have always been powerful genres because they allow creators to explore those ideas through impossible scenarios.
A spaceship.
A magical world.
An alternate reality.
A strange version of heaven.
The setting may be fictional, but the questions are often very real.
That is what I have always loved about speculative fiction.
It allows us to explore reality by imagining something beyond reality.
The Literary Titan podcast also emphasized who might enjoy this type of story.
They highlighted readers who enjoy unconventional indie science fiction and fantasy.
Readers who enjoy mythological reinterpretations.
Readers who enjoy stories that are not afraid to experiment.
Readers who enjoy big ideas and unusual concepts.
And that means a lot to me because that is exactly the audience I hoped would connect with the book.
I never wanted Wonderment Within Weirdness to simply be another generic science fiction story.
I wanted it to feel like something that could only come from my imagination.
Something unique.
Something strange.
Something different.
The fact that Literary Titan recognized those qualities is incredibly meaningful.
Especially because independent authors often face a unique challenge.
When you publish traditionally, there is usually an established system behind you.
Editors.
Publishers.
Marketing teams.
Distribution networks.
When you publish independently, you are responsible for much more.
You are the writer.
You are the editor.
You are the marketer.
You are the person trying to convince the world that your story is worth discovering.
So when an organization like Literary Titan recognizes your work, it feels like validation that all those hours mattered.
Receiving the Literary Titan Silver Book Award was already an incredible honor.
Having them discuss the book on their podcast was another amazing step.
And now seeing that discussion uploaded to YouTube creates another opportunity.
It means more people can discover the story.
More people can learn what Wonderment Within Weirdness is about.
More people can see what kind of journey I created.
Looking back, it is still amazing to think about how far this book has traveled.
It started as an idea.
Then it became a manuscript.
Then a published novel.
Then an award-winning book.
Then a podcast discussion.
Then a YouTube video.
Every step represents another person encountering something that began in my imagination.
That is one of the most rewarding parts of being an author.
Stories have a life beyond their creators.
Once they are released, they can travel places the author never expected.
They can reach people the author never meets.
They can create conversations.
They can inspire thoughts.
They can become part of someone else’s experience.
That is the dream every writer has.
Not necessarily fame.
Not necessarily becoming the biggest author in the world.
But simply knowing that something you created reached another person.
For me, Literary Titan’s recognition of Wonderment Within Weirdness represents exactly that.
It represents someone else seeing the creativity, ambition, and imagination that went into the book.
It represents a reminder that taking a chance on yourself can lead to unexpected opportunities.
And it represents another chapter in my journey as Jaime David.
When I first wrote Wonderment Within Weirdness, I did not know where it would go.
I just knew I had a story I wanted to tell.
Now, years later, that story has been recognized, reviewed, awarded, and discussed by others.
And that is something I will always appreciate.
Because every book has a journey.
Every author has a journey.
And this has been one of the most incredible parts of mine.

Jaime David in the World of Writing: My Story and the Many Namesakes
When people hear the name Jaime David, most of the time I think they have no idea just how many people share it. But for me, the first Jaime David is obviously me—the indie author and scientist who has spent years blending storytelling with rational inquiry. That’s the Jaime David I want to talk about first: my work, my journey, and why I write the way I do. But I’ll also touch on other authors and professionals who share my name, because it’s kind of fascinating how many creative and skilled people happen to have the same combination of names.
I write because I want to explore the human experience in a way that’s honest, emotional, and often scientific. My stories tend to live at the intersection of science, human connection, and emotional honesty. In 2025 alone, I published three books, including Wonderment Within Weirdness, which is one of my favorites. That book in particular leans into a comic book–inspired narrative style, which lets me dive into complicated ideas while keeping them visceral and accessible. A lot of my writing touches on identity, mental health, and personal growth, but I like to think I approach it in a way that combines emotion with analytical clarity. My background in science and data gives me that foundation—I can tell a story and explore human experience without losing sight of logical structure or scientific nuance.
I also host The Jaime David Podcast, which has been a really important outlet for me. On it, I talk about my creative process, reflect on my older poetry, and generally try to give listeners insight into how my mind works. For me, writing isn’t just about putting words on a page—it’s about creating a connection with readers and listeners, sharing the process, and hopefully inspiring people to think about their own experiences in a deeper way. Radical empathy and self-compassion are huge parts of how I approach both life and writing, and I try to carry that through everything I create.
Being an independent author has also allowed me to maintain complete creative control. I self-publish because I don’t want someone else telling me what to include, what to cut, or how to structure my work. That freedom lets me experiment, take risks, and write in a voice that’s uniquely mine. I’ve always believed that authenticity is more important than conformity, and I think self-publishing has allowed me to hold onto that in every project I release.
But I’m not the only Jaime David doing interesting work in writing. Another Jaime David is an educator for BERNINA of America who writes extensively on sewing, textiles, and overlocker techniques. She’s written for the WeAllSew blog and creates patterns that help readers turn instructions into tangible, creative projects. Her work is a different kind of authorship than mine—it’s instructional and skill-based—but it’s still creative, thoughtful, and impactful. I find it fascinating how writing can take so many forms, from emotional storytelling to teaching a practical craft.
Then there’s Jaime M. David, a fashion and lifestyle communications consultant based in New York. She writes about brand strategy, PR, and lifestyle topics, shaping narratives that influence perception and culture. While she isn’t writing fiction or poetry, her work shows that authorship isn’t limited to books—it can be about shaping ideas, crafting stories for brands, and communicating effectively with audiences. It’s another reminder that the act of writing can exist in so many different spaces, not just the literary one I operate in.
There’s also a Jamie David on Amazon, though that profile seems a bit mixed or shared. Still, it represents another facet of what authorship looks like in the digital age: independent, self-published, and reaching audiences across platforms. And then there’s Jamie Davis, an English actor and writer, known for Hex, Casualty, and the 2023 series You & Me. His work demonstrates the connection between performing and writing, and how storytelling can span both visual and textual mediums. Finally, Jamie Sams and David Carson co-authored Medicine Cards, a spiritual guide that combines historical knowledge, cultural insight, and practical reflection. Their work shows yet another form of authorship: one that’s meant to guide, reflect, and help readers explore themselves.
Seeing all these people together makes me reflect on what it means to share a name with other creatives. Even though we work in very different fields, there’s a shared thread: all of us are trying to communicate something meaningful. Whether it’s my fiction and poetry, sewing patterns, lifestyle consulting, acting and writing, or spiritual guides, writing becomes a way to connect, teach, or inspire. And while I like to joke that I’m “obviously” the first Jaime David, I also find it motivating to see other people with the same name doing creative work. It reminds me how diverse authorship can be, and how many different ways writing can impact the world.
At the end of the day, my goal remains the same: I want to tell stories that are emotionally honest, intellectually rigorous, and resonant. I want to explore human experience in a way that blends science, emotion, and reflection. But I also take inspiration from the broader community of Jaime Davids and Jamies in writing, because it shows me that authorship isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s flexible, adaptive, and alive in so many forms. Each person with my name—or a similar one—is contributing their own voice to the world, and that’s something I feel proud to be part of, even as I focus on the work that’s uniquely mine.

Hello, everyone. Welcome to another episode of The Jaime David Podcast. I am Jaime David, your host. Today, I want to talk about a poem inspired by one of the most iconic songs of all time — John Lennon’s “Imagine.”
This piece really made me think about how different the world might be if we treated each other with more kindness and understanding, if we could set aside all the things that divide us.
Before I share the poem, let us talk a bit about the theme.
John Lennon’s “Imagine” asks us to dream of a world without boundaries — no countries, no possessions, no religion dividing us. It is a simple but powerful call for peace and unity.
I wrote this poem in response to that spirit. It explores the idea of imagining a world where we do not judge or exclude others based on their skin color, gender, beliefs, or social status. It challenges us to think beyond our own biases.

When I listen to this piece,
This musical piece by a man long deceased,
I cannot help but wonder,
What the world would be like
If we cared for one another,
Gave to each other,
And were there for each other.What would that world be like?
Would it be nice?
Would people act right?
Would we all not fight?Would we not be superficial
And judge people
For the color of their skin,
Or for what was between their legs,
Or for who they chose to kiss,
Or for how they chose to dress,
Or for what their gender is,
Or for what their religion is,
Or for being atheists,
Or for having disabilities,
Or for not being rich,
Or for being homeless,
Or for not being intelligent,
Or for being promiscuous,
Or for being addicts,
Or for being imprisoned,
Or for being furry friends?What would such a world be like?
Would we stand up for what is right
And not lose sight
When we lose our light?What would such a world be like?
I would like to hope
That in that world
We could get past our own egos
And treat those
Who feel lost
With the utmost
Compassion
That is so strong
That it will not
Ever be lost!Is such a world possible?
I would like to say it is not impossible!Will it be difficult?
For sure, it will,However, I am certain we will
One day feel
A sense of brotherhood
That will unite us all!Am I a dreamer?
Am I a believer?
Am I the only one?
Am I waiting for the sun?Who knows?
But what I do know is that I love

This poem invites us to reflect on the divisions that shape our world — divisions based on race, gender, religion, social status, and so much more. It reminds us that many of these barriers are constructed by society and that judging others often prevents us from truly connecting.
I find it powerful how the poem calls out such a wide range of people — from atheists to those with disabilities, to the homeless and imprisoned, even to furry friends. This inclusion reminds us that compassion should extend to all living beings, regardless of their differences.
The poem acknowledges that achieving such a world is not easy. It will take effort, and there will be obstacles. But it holds onto hope — hope that through compassion, empathy, and brotherhood, we can overcome our egos and prejudices.
Personally, this poem challenges me to consider: Am I just dreaming of a better world, or am I willing to believe in it and work toward it? It reminds me that change begins with small acts of kindness and awareness in our daily lives.
John Lennon’s “Imagine” has inspired countless people because it dares to dream of peace and unity. This poem continues that legacy by reminding us that imagination itself is the first step toward meaningful change.
In a time when the world often feels divided and conflicted, poems like this encourage us to keep hope alive and to keep striving for empathy and understanding. Because ultimately, that is what connects us as humans.

Hey everyone, welcome back to The Jaime David Podcast. I am your host, Jaime, and today’s episode is all about something that I feel is really important—climate change.Recently, I was reading an article by the New York Times about how 2019 was officially the hottest year on record. After reading that, I was honestly pretty shocked, and it got me thinking about how real and pressing this issue is. If we don’t start taking it seriously, we’re going to be in some serious trouble.
So, I was inspired to write a short poem in response to the article’s title, and I thought I’d share it with you all today. It’s my way of expressing just how hot things are getting—both literally and figuratively.
Here’s the poem:

Climate Change is Real
That’s…..hot!Ok, no it’s not!
It sucks a lot!
It’s worse than I thought!
This planet’s all we fucking got,
and right now, it’s getting too damn hot!
JAIME DAVID:
Yeah, that’s right. It’s getting way too hot. And honestly, the more I think about it, the more I realize that this isn’t just a distant problem—it’s something we’re living through right now. We’ve got wildfires, flooding, rising sea levels, and temperatures that are consistently breaking records year after year. And, it’s not just happening in some faraway place—it’s happening everywhere.When you really think about it, we only have one planet. This is it. And if we don’t make some serious changes, we’re going to lose it. We’re the ones who have to take responsibility and make sure that the planet can support future generations.
Climate Change: Why It Matters
What’s really scary is how many people are still in denial about this. There’s still this pushback from certain individuals and groups that refuse to acknowledge the reality of climate change. But, honestly, the facts speak for themselves. Our planet is changing, and if we don’t do something about it now, things are going to get even worse.And it’s not just about global temperatures—it’s about everything that’s connected to it. It’s about food, water, shelter, our homes, our cities, our countries, our economies. It’s all interconnected, and if one piece falls apart, the rest of it starts to unravel too.
So, I’m not trying to be all doom and gloom here, but the point is we need to start acting now. It’s about making sustainable choices, reducing waste, conserving energy, and taking care of the environment. It’s about having the courage to make the changes we need to secure a future that’s not only liveable, but a future that’s thriving.
Final Thoughts
The fact is, climate change is real, and it’s happening now. We can’t afford to wait any longer. Whether it’s through voting, activism, or even just changing small habits in our own lives, we all have a part to play in making sure this planet is here for future generations.So, yeah, let’s not pretend this isn’t a big deal. Let’s take action while we still have time. And maybe we can cool things down before it’s too late.
