JAIME DAVID (host):
Hey everyone, welcome back to The Jaime David Podcast. We’ve made it to Episode 29, and today’s topic is one that still shapes so much of our daily lives, institutions, and culture—sexism.
This poem today is short, direct, and not here to sugarcoat anything. It’s called “Sexism,” and here it is:
Sexism
Sexism is terrible.
It is horrendous.
It is disastrous.
It’s the treatment of one sex,
Usually women,
In a negative way
For what’s between their legs.
It is male privilege
That perpetuates
This messed up system.
JAIME DAVID (host):
There’s no dancing around it—sexism is a system. And it doesn’t just hurt women. It limits everyone. But women and marginalized genders bear the brunt of it—every day, in countless ways.
Whether it’s being talked over in meetings, underpaid for the same work, objectified, dismissed, or disbelieved—the inequality is real. And so is the damage.
This isn’t just about one bad comment or one unfair moment. It’s about a structure that was built to keep certain people on top and others out of power. The poem highlights that clearly—sexism isn’t just a “bad habit.” It’s a reflection of male privilege and centuries of inequality.
Now, if you’re someone with male privilege, this isn’t about making you feel guilty—it’s about encouraging you to do better, to be part of the solution. That means listening to women. Believing them. Amplifying their voices. Advocating for equity in your workplace, in your home, and in your government.
If we want a world that’s truly just and fair, we need to be willing to call out and dismantle sexism at every level.
Thanks for being here and taking the time to sit with these tough truths. This has been Episode 29 of The Jaime David Podcast. I’ll catch you in the next one—because the work continues.
