You Don’t Have To Vote For Your Party
October 13, 2026 by jaimedavid327
Being registered with a political party does not mean you have to vote for that party’s candidates in a general election. In the U.S., voters can generally choose candidates from any party during general elections. Primary rules can be different depending on the state.
Politics Isn’t Just Presidential Elections
October 12, 2026 by jaimedavid327
Presidential elections get enormous attention, but politics also happens at the state and local levels. Governors, mayors, state legislators, county officials, and local councils can all make decisions that directly affect people’s everyday lives.
I’m Against the Death Penalty. Yes, Even for People Who Commit Horrific Crimes. Here’s Why.
October 11, 2026 by jaimedavid327
I want to follow up on my previous post about why I oppose the death penalty, because there’s something else I want to address. And I know this is probably going to piss some people off, but honestly? I think it’s a conversation worth having. I’ve noticed that a lot of people who oppose thingsContinue […]
The Death Penalty Is Cruel, Unjust, and One of the Biggest Contradictions in American Law
October 10, 2026 by jaimedavid327
Two stories have been in the news recently that have reminded me why I oppose the death penalty. And honestly? The more I think about them, the more convinced I am that we need to fundamentally rethink how we approach punishment, justice, and the power we give our government. The first story concerns the Pentagon’sContinue […]
The ICE Shooting in the Bronx, Radical Empathy, and Why We Need to Start Understanding Each Other
October 9, 2026 by jaimedavid327
I’ve been thinking a lot about what’s been happening with ICE lately, and honestly, I’m getting fucking sick of it. I’m sick of hearing about ICE agents shooting people. I’m sick of seeing incidents that raise serious questions about the use of force, accountability, and whether the people enforcing our laws are being held toContinue […]

Rest Is Not Failure
October 13, 2026 by jaimedavid327
You are allowed to stop. You are allowed to take a break. You are allowed to have a day where you accomplish absolutely nothing. Rest isn’t laziness. Sometimes rest is exactly what you need.
Remembering RJ Mitte: Disability Representation, Mental Health, and the Importance of Being Seen
October 12, 2026 by jaimedavid327
The news of RJ Mitte’s passing has been heartbreaking. Many people knew him as Walter White Jr., also known as Flynn, from Breaking Bad. But beyond his acting career, Mitte was also an advocate for disability awareness, inclusion, and representation. And today, I want to talk about that side of his legacy, particularly when it […]
You Don’t Have To Explain Everything
October 12, 2026 by jaimedavid327
Sometimes you know why you’re feeling something. Sometimes you don’t. And that’s okay. You don’t owe everyone a perfectly organized explanation for your emotions.
Both Things Can Be True: Heritage, Identity, and Mental Health
September 24, 2026 by jaimedavid327
It’s Hispanic Heritage Month. And, well, fuck it. I’m Hispanic. More specifically, I’m Salvadoran. I’ve spent years writing about mental health, creativity, books, science, and whatever else is on my mind, and I almost never talk about this part of myself. So I’m going to now. Identity and mental health are more connected than we […]
Why Hayden Panettiere’s Death Made Me Think of Connor
September 14, 2026 by jaimedavid327
Hayden Panettiere is dead. That sentence is still strange to write. For me, my connection to Hayden Panettiere wasn’t primarily through Heroes or Nashville, even though I know those are the projects she’s best known for. My connection to her was largely through Kingdom Hearts. Hayden voiced Kairi, one of the central characters in the […]
