The Jaime David Podcast – Episode 32: Happy Birthday To The RogueReviewer is out now!
For Episode 32, we’re taking a little trip down memory lane with “Happy Birthday to the RogueReviewer.”
This episode features a birthday poem I originally wrote for my cousin, Drew Gaska, several years ago. The poem was originally published on my blog, and now I’m bringing it back in audio form for the podcast!
Now, before anyone gets confused, this episode is being released months after Drew’s actual birthday. So, no, this isn’t exactly a timely birthday greeting! But hey, better late than never, right?
Sometimes, it’s nice to revisit older pieces of writing and give them a new opportunity to reach an audience. And that’s exactly what we’re doing here.
So join me for this belated birthday tribute to the RogueReviewer!
Thanks for listening, and as always, welcome to the greatest podcast of all time!

Welcome back to The Jaime David Podcast. This is Episode 32.
Today, I want to take a moment to reflect on a post I wrote back in 2020, early on in my blogging journey. It was a birthday poem dedicated to my cousin, Drew Gaska, who goes by The RogueReviewer online. At that time, Drew was just beginning to build his platform, but even then, his work was already powerful, insightful, and impactful.
Drew’s reviews aren’t just typical entertainment critiques. What sets him apart is how he weaves sociopolitical commentary into his work. He highlights issues that many people face but are often overlooked or ignored. Through his writing and art, he gives voice to those experiences, helping people feel seen and understood. That’s a rare and valuable gift.
His work offers more than just analysis; it offers connection and validation. For people struggling with social injustice, mental health challenges, or feeling marginalized, Drew’s perspective can be a beacon — reminding them they’re not alone and encouraging them to think critically about the world around them.
So, I wanted to honor him with this poem on his birthday, to celebrate not just the artist and writer he is, but also the positive impact his work has on others.
Here’s the poem I wrote back then:
Happy Birthday to The RogueReviewer
AKA Drew Gaska.
You are an amazing writer.
Your reviews bring to light some
Sociopolitical
Issues we face on
A day-to-day basis.
You are an amazing artist.
Your work is magnificent.
You are a very talented individual.
I hope that on this day,
You have a great birthday!
JAIME DAVID (host):
Looking back on this poem now, in 2025, it still rings true—and I feel even more proud of Drew. Over the years, he’s continued to evolve as an artist and a thinker. His platform has grown, and with it, his influence. But more importantly, the heart behind his work remains the same.
What Drew does is important because it bridges gaps—between communities, ideas, and people’s lived realities. By shining a light on tough topics, he invites dialogue and understanding. His work empowers others to question the status quo, to challenge injustice, and to find their own voice.
In a world that can often feel divided and overwhelming, creators like Drew remind us that words and art matter. They have the power to heal, educate, and inspire change. That’s why I wanted to celebrate him not just as family but as someone whose contributions truly help people every day.
So, to my cousin Drew — keep doing what you do. Your voice is needed, your work is appreciated, and your impact is real.
Thank you all for listening to this episode of The Jaime David Podcast. Until next time.
